Where you go to buy or sell a business…..

As you may already be aware, I appeared on Ron Morris’ radio show on Pittsburgh Renaissance Radio on Thursday October 30^th. 

This appearance was the result of comments made by Ron on his October 11, 2008 “American Entrepreneur” radio show regarding business brokers and my subsequent rebuttal through this blog on October 15, 2008.

Although Ron and I took substantially different positions on the merits of using a business broker, our exchange on Pittsburgh Renaissance Radio was professional, civil and informative.

This was my first time making an appearance on live radio and I was nervous.  I was defending a profession in which public perception and opinion was squarely not in my corner.  I knew that.  But I also knew that my firm was different.  We were not what was wrong with the business brokerage profession.  We are everything that is right about the profession.  I needed to let it be known that good business brokers, like us, existed.  Ron provided me with that opportunity.

In the end, there was no need to be nervous.  Ron was a gracious host and a true example of class and professionalism.  He allowed me the opportunity to discuss the profession, present my resume and demonstrate the capabilities of River’s Edge Alliance Group. 

Ron knew what he did not like about the profession but he never accused me or my firm of being any of those things.  He probed thoroughly to learn more about us, to determine that we were trustworthy and reputable and assure his listeners received clear, accurate and useful information.

At the end of the day, Ron made the show about us, River’s Edge Alliance Group, and not about him.  To me, this was a true demonstration of class and professionalism.

Ron, I would like to personally thank you for allowing me the opportunity to join you on the show.  Thank you for helping young, emerging Pittsburgh based companies grow, thrive and reach their potential.  You are a gentleman, a scholar and a friend to River’s Edge Alliance Group.  Thank you.
